Hi everybody,

I have had a site running smoothly for quite a while, though it recently started to show the "Mode View/Edit" part of the Control Panel publicly. That is, even if one is not logged in he/she can she the View/Edit modes in the top of the screen, though selecting either radiobutton results in nothing but a page refresh and the mode being set back to View. I have been trying to rectify the problem via the Usability Settings in the Admin part of the DNN, though that didn't change the appereance of the control panel publicly.

A link to a screen dumb of the problem: <a href="http://img255.imageshack.us/my.php?image=controlpanelshowingjx2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/7572/controlpanelshowingjx2.th.jpg" border="0" /></a>

Any help is greatly appreciated,

Many thanks, Michael

We're having the exact same problem, all of a sudden the control panel is visable to everyone.  How do we get it to stay hidden except for an admin when they are logged in?

Never mind!  Found if you uncheck "Inline Editor Enabled" and changed the Control Panel Security to Page Editors it's gone, at least in v4.05.05.

Hey there,

I seem to only be having the "inline editor enabled" option (running 4.05.01) under usability settings. Where did you locate the Control Panel Security level option? Was that also under the Usability Settings, if that's the case, I still have the same problem, since only flipping the "Inlie Editor Enabled" didn't fix the problem.

Xexon,

control panel options have been added ~ version 4.8.0. I strongy suggest to upgrade to DNN 4.8.4, due to a number of security issues fixed!

Cheers from Germany,
