Adding a user to an existing role results in the following error (however the user is added to the role)...

Error: is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: String reference not set to an instance of a String. Parameter name: name ---> System.ArgumentNullException: String reference not set to an instance of a String. Parameter name: name at System.Globalization.CultureInfo..ctor(String name, Boolean useUserOverride) at DotNetNuke.Security.Roles.RoleController.SendNotification(UserInfo objUser, RoleInfo objRole, PortalSettings PortalSettings, String Action) at DotNetNuke.Security.Roles.RoleController.AddUserRole(UserInfo objUser, RoleInfo objRole, PortalSettings PortalSettings, DateTime effDate, DateTime expDate, Int32 userId, Boolean notifyUser) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.Security.SecurityRoles.cmdAdd_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

Any ideas???

Thanks

Check that the user has a valid email account and that their preferred locale is set.

Glad to see you on this one, Mike ... I get the same error when I add a user to a role, but ONLY in the portal where I am using the Active Directory for authentication.

The error appears upon add, but when I go elsewhere and come back to view users in role, the addition was successful. And the permissions granted in site.

Thoughts?

We are also using AD for authentication...and Michael's observations are exactly what we are experiencing.  We do not see the error when adding a DNN user to a role.  I suspect the AD userid string may be causing a problem- domain\username for some reason...the slash???

This is fixed in version .04 which is currently in the DNN Release Tracker.
