I want to modify the links module. I have never installed the source of a core dnn module. Can some one tell me specifically how this is done or where I can find this information? I already have my dnn project built by the starter kit. I have the latest source version of links (4.0.0)

Hi Dan,

  1. Extract your Links module source code
  2. In every module source code, there is a project file
  3. From your Visual studio, click File --> Add --> Existing Project and choose your Links project file.
  4. Check references from your Links source if there is a different from your environment
  5. Now you can work as usuall

To compile, don't press F5 because it will compile ALL your project. Just right click from your LInks source project then choose Build.

First: you do not need to use Source version of the framework, but it might help during debugging and for having a look into the source code.

  1. Install source module as any install version using "Install new module" in Host :: Module Definition of your local development portal.
  2. WAP modules come with a solution file, which you can open.Do NOT open DotNetNuke solution.
  3. Next you need to adjust the DotNetNuke references in the project
  4. modify and compile, using \bin as output folder
