Ahh..   You explicitly added the update panel...   so obviously you know which panel to update.   Good idea. 

I was using the option from the Module settings to automatically wrap the module in a panel , so I did not think of forcing the update panel to refresh on communication.  Also in my environment, I don't know if there will be another module out there and if it is within a update panel, so the full post back seemed best for me.
