Hi All,

Often we get reports of user problems on our site, and one of the first things we want to do is login as the user in question, and observe the reported behavior ourselves.

Right now, I'm only aware of two ways to do this:

1) Reset their password, login as them, then send the user their new password.  Annoys the user.
2) Ask the user for their password, wait for them to respond, then login as them and troubleshoot.  Takes longer, and longer response times annoy the user too.

So, is there a way for an administrator to recover a user's password in DNN?

no, unless the site has been set up with passwords in clear text it is not possible via the UI (nor should it be otherwise that would be a security risk). It's easy to write a module that would do this that pulls in the decryption key and uses that to show the password, but you would need host access to install the module

An impersonation feature woule be  nice, allowing the admin to login as any user to test the site functionality.
