how do i change the "from" email address used to send new registered users their confirmation email? Thanks

Hopefully, in DNN 5 there will be more options regarding this.

At present, the default email used for sending such emails is that of the portal administrator as defined in Site Settings. I have long thought this to be too limiting, since the role of portal administrator is not necessarily equivalent to that of portal business contact.

At any rate - change the default portal admin, or change that person's email address on record, and the from email address in such notices will also change.

This is not the case in DNN 7.

I have several sites as separate parent portals, and I can't seem to change the 'from' address. 

site b still has a 'from' email with site a's domain.

I have created a new user in site b, and set a separate email for it, but it still doesn't work.

Nevermind, 

If host SMTP settings are set, all emails are sent through that.
