Hi everybody.

As explained in the subject, I have to upgrade the feedback module from the v4.4.1 to the v4.4.3 because I need this fonctionnality  :

  • Name of the sender is being saved with the feedback submitted.(new in version 4.4.2)
  •

I already use this module on my website, and I don't want to lose all the datas of this module while upgrading. Is it possible? If yes, is there a documentation or a tutorial explaining the procedure?

An other solution consists in the replacement of my actual install version by the source version. By this way, I stay in v4.4.1 but I can change source and make what I want. Same question, is it easily possible and is there a documentation ?

Do you think one of the two solutions is better?

    Thank you in advance
    Nicolas

Nicolas - whenever you do an upgrade, the intention is to not delete your existing data. That being said you should be able to move from 4.4.1 to 4.4.3 without losing any of your existing feedback posts.
Just to test it out, I'd get a copy of your database and try the upgrade first there to make sure it does upgrade your existing posts. If you have made source changes in 4.4.1, you'd also have to make/apply the same changes to the 4.4.3 version. You don't need to replace your install version with the source version. If you want to make changes to the 4.4.3 codebase, you can most certainly use the source version but then simply copy over the changed files to your website\desktopmodules\feedback folder...

Hi everybody, I'm back with an another question I would like to perform the upgrade from 4.4.1 to 4.4.3 (install versions). I have never done that before. I just know one thing : Feedback module hasn't upgrade interface. So, how can I upgrade this module? Must I uninstall the old version ? (but if I do that, all datas will be deleted...) Must I simply overwrite the v4.4.1 files by the v4.4.3 files ? Must I install the new version without considering the old one ? Something else ? Thank you in advance for your help! Nicolas

Nicolas - not sure where you got the idea that feedback does not have the upgrade interface... It wouldn't have passed core validation if it didn't have this interface.
That being said, yes you can upgrade from 4.4.1 to 4.4.3 (in fact from 3x to 4.4.3 is also possible)..
    Here are the steps...

Log in as host and go to Module Definitions (from the Host Menu)...
Click on Install new Module from the action menu.
Select the zip file you got for 4.4.3 and click on install new module.

This should go thru the steps of upgrading your existing 4.4.1 install to 4.4.3.

    Thanks

    Sanjay
