Trying to fix the problems, I replaced the files on the server. I had downloaded all files local...

Now I am in big trouble!!

I was so happy, so happy for DotNetNuke portal, and I was preparing 2 more, but now I am in doubth. It looks like, that the application is very sensible, and only experts can find out of whats going on.

I have lost the portals and ALL my information - hours of hours work!!!

This is now what my website is saying to visitors:

Server Error in '/NEWCMS' Application.

Runtime Error

Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="Off"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>

 Are there anybody "Experts" that maybe can help me - or do I have to say "godbye" to all my informations?

i feel for you. i also lost several dnn installations. But luckyly i don't hae any in production environement now. I found that anytime you do the following you need to backup both the database and the files.

(1) Add module definition

(2) Use module for the 1st time.

(3) Delete any module/mdoule definition

You need to have a full back up of the databse and a full backup of the files. Just think you are lucky you just started when this happens. You could be at it for month when it happen.

Since you do have a database backup, you should be albe to delete all files on in the dnn folder and reinstall the dnn files. If you had installed additional modules then you would actually need to install them in a different location then copy them back to the dnn folder.

Please don't be discouraged. You can make it owrk. Just think of it as a life's little lesson.
