I have 9997 blog entries, give or take one or two, divided in four blogs. I used Blog intead of a combinatin of Tabs + HTMLText because the calendar is very suitable for this kind of posts I am making.

I happened to encounter a problem with Blog Search: it always throws error.

Since I have to solve this search situation please let me know this: Is site too big? Does Blog not scale well enough?

Can I use the default DNN Search instead of Blog Search?

What error are you seeing?  I'm not aware of any scale issues with the blog.
