So in my quest to solve my menu issues i was reading this here thread, i too downloaded the webcontrols from dotnetnuke.com and extracted to zip to the root of my website overwriting existing files.

I currently use the solpartmenu, but read here that the DNN menu was a better and updated version, i tried to switch to the DNN menu in the skins, but when i do that, all my menu items disappear

So how can i migrate to the DNN menu from the solpart menu?!?

There's no need for download a new DNN package for WebContols package. dnnMENU was introduced in late version 2 of DotNetNuke (citation needed). You just need to either use [NAV] token in your HTML skinning or specificly tell DotNetNuke to use dnnMENU by adding this in your ASCX file:

ProviderName="DNNMenuNavigationProvider"

Hope this helps!

Thanks Cuong - that worked for me. Where can I find some references for the ID's & classes used in this menu?

Thanks!

Jeff,

You can download this document which references the attributes of dnnMENU. It should be helpful in customizing the control.

Good luck!

dnnMenu or whatever is used is the tag name which corresponds to the Register TagPrefix at the top of the ascx page.
It depends on the file called here both solpartsmenu and menu do the same
the newest menu calls the ProviderName and uses the file nav.ascx
You can see how nice this will be for skinners to be able to choose the menu provider that best suits the customers purpose.
