As I understand it, a single database can host multiple DNN installations by use of the 'objectQualifier' option when setting up the datasource.

I have an existing and functioning copy of DNN on my web server.  Now I've copied all the DNN files (fresh files, not copy of my existing installation) to a new directory on my web server, and modified the web.config file setting the sql datasource with a different objectQualifier value (the original website has an empty objectQualifier).

My expectation was that when I ran this website, it would detect that no DNN installation exists with objects using that objectQualifier, and it would install a new set of objects who names were prefixed with that qualifier.  Instead it just tells me there is nothing to install.  What am I doing wrong?

In the web.config have you removed the installation date tag (<add key="InstallationDate" value="10/24/2005" />)?

That helped!  The book from PACKT that I was using neglected to mention that.

However, now I get the error below.  My objectQualifier is "store_", so for some reason it cannot find a stored procedure.  I verified that the database did not contain any objects prefixed with "store_".

By the way, the URL I am using to run the update process is http://blahblah.com/storetest/Install/Install.aspx?mode=none , where "storetest" is the directory with the fresh installation of virgin DNN files (exception of the web.config file that I've modified as discussed).

DotNetNuke Upgrade Error

The Assembly Version ( [ASSEMBLYVERSION] ) does not match the Database Version ( [DATABASEVERSION] )

ERROR: Could not connect to database.

The stored procedure 'dbo.store_GetPortalAliasByPortalID' doesn't exist.

Verify that the SQL Connection String (or strings in 4.x) are pointing to the correct SQL Server/Instance and is using the correct username and password.   Also, some of what DNN does as far as installation/upgrade happens on application startup so you may want to consider restarting IIS before browsing the site again.

The connection strings are correct because I copied them from my functioning DNN installation's WEB.CONFIG.

I restarted the server and went to the installation URL, and now I'm getting the message that there is nothing to install.  I'm wondering if the MODE has to be changed in the query string "...Install.aspx?mode=none" to support multiple installations.

Has anybody actually SUCCESSFULLY installed to DNN websites in a single database, or is this just a "thoery" that it should work?
