I am looking for DNN carts which can be offered by hosting companies. That's why I am targetting carts with licenses per server or dnn installations. It seems only Catalook fits the bill in the this regard but it's way too complicated for a quick store.

In case you miss it, portalstore is another one licensed per server.

I checked it out before. No demo available, no evaluation available and the author didn't return my email. Vaporware as far as I am concerned.

Which shopping cart service is best? Is Pay Pal ok? Any thoughts about Digital River or any other shopping cart service?

Pay Pal is an EBay company. Against that, it could be argued that they are the most visible shopping cart service on the web today. They might not be the best but because of their visibility, Pay Pal might be the preferred service.

etailer is the one to use at the level just up from the core store.. real easy to use. I've been wanting to recommend it everywhere, but I'm having trouble implementing it because the content is invisible to Google... making it a waste of effort.  http://www.emerald-solutions.co.uk/eTailer.aspx

What do you mean it's invisible.. do you mean the urls are not search engine friendly?

Did you bring this issue up with the vendor and what was their response? Maybe they are including the 'fix' in their new version.

Robax is referring to the fact that eTailer is heavily ajax driven, meaning there are no unique Urls for products, categories, etc. While this may somewhat enhance the user experience, it's a total disregard of basic SEO best practices.

Yes, I brought the issue up with the developer on more than one occasion, and even suggested the possiblity of disabling AJAX for unathenticated users, leaving the AJAX bits for people who are signed in and actually buying stuff. I was highly disappointed to be told that it is not on the roadmap, and that perhaps another cart might suit my needs better.

It's a pretty unsatisfactory answer... and I could have sold the cart dozens of times otherwise.
