Yes, it's in the Sponsored Forum (trying to get some core team attention due to the severity). It may or may not be related but I am clutching at straws at the mo! :

Hi,

I recently upgraded PokerDIY to DNN 4.9.0. Since then I have noticed some subtle but major changes which affect the whole site but I can't work out where the problem lies. I need to know what changes were made in 4,9 with caching/scheduled tasks...

It seems as though the Scheduler is working sporadically - I have now seen it affect 2 tasks - the core Users Online and DataSprings Send Newsletter task. Both tasks say they have worked and completed successfully (with no records found in the latters case) but ntohing happens. The Users Online table does not clear correctly and the emails are not sent. If I restart the app or stop and start each scheduled task manually then it runs fine.

The other major issue is the caching - since the upgrade it has stopped working (several customers have reported this so it is not just my server).

I'd appreciate some assistance please - it is a major issue and is affecting a number of people in a couple of different manners.

Threads hinting at scheduler issues:

Threads about Users Online no longer working:

Thread about Caching no longer working:

Here are some changes in 4.9 that may be related (but don't sound like it):

My top 3 DNN sites which together have 150k uniques per month are all running 490 and have Timer mode set.  I havent seen any problems with caching, and users online still works.  There is probably a problem with a certain combination of  settings, and its not just timer mode + 490.  What are your caching settings anyway?

I've got no problems with timer mode... but I have had problems in the past with third party modules. I'm not saying this is the what is happening but that would be my first area of investigation.... I would do a clean local install DNN, run in timer mode for a period... see if this works.. then install third party modules and see if they break. Of course I might be leading you up the garden path here, but that's what I would do nevertheless.

I use Heavy Caching, Page State Persistence and Memory Module Caching.

Interestingly, I have always used the Request scheduler, so I will try the Timer method now and report back.
