Did the install according to the Mitch Sellers instructions. Hugely inconsistent results every time and every place I try to install 4.8

Lots of times when I get to the install.aspx part, it simply tells me that the site is not available -- under construction.

So I try running the install.aspx ten more times. Finally it runs and reports success. Then it says, go to the portal. So I click on go to the portal. It tells me 403 error - forbidden.

So I start from scratch all over again. Redo everything from the beginning. New directory, new db, new everything. Then it tells me that there is a configuration error, and I need to add Network Service to the permissions. Not true at all. Both Network Service and ASPNET have already been granted full control.

So I try hitting refresh ten more times or so. Then it goes through the entire process -- reports success all the way until it gets to the end and reports a whole bunch of errors.

Mind you -- no change in settings or anything else in between the configuration error and the times it seems to start running.

Does anyone have an explanation for this or is DNN just generally flaky?

I assume that there is an issue in your IIS web site or virtual folder definition or ASP.Net 2.0 is not properly installed. make sure, that a simple "helloWorld.aspx" is displayed properly and verify web site configuration.
