pwgales --

I stumbled across this post while looking for solutions to why we can get our DNN installation working.  Our client is hosted with Network Solutions and while their wizard creates a working DNN site it is version 4.5.3.  We are hoping to install version 4.9 which I currently have working in my development environment.  How did you get 4.8 installed on a Network Solutions account?  Any help is greatly appreciated!

.. bit late maybe but stumbled across the issue this week when trying to bypass ISP's mailserver for DNN 4.9.4 website. First tried using gmail smtp server. ISP set restrictions for bulkmailings through Newsletter module: max. 150 mails per hour.  However got DNN error when combining smtp.gmail.com:portnr in hostsettings: The type of the first permission that failed was: System.Net.Mail.SmtpPermission

Next tried smpt.live.com. Sending went ok including setting of sender + reply addresses (no hassle unlike google). Now have to find out if Live accepts bulkmailings over 150 mails p. hour.

Live details:
Outgoing Server (SMTP Server): smtp.live.com
Outgoing Server SMTP Port: 25
Outgoing Server Authentication: Yes (On – Use POP username and password or Hotmail credentials)
Outgoing Server TLS or SSL Secure
Encrypted Connection: Yes (On or Required)

Tip (by J): Outgoing Server of Hotmail also supports port 587, useful for people who encounters error for STMP due to ISP blockage or any other reason.

User Name: Windows Live ID (e.g. yourname@hotmail.com)
Password: password used to sign in to Hotmail or Windows Live service
