Ok, I have a great knowledge of DNN, I've watched all of the videos on how to develop a module, I know SQL very well.  The only problem that I'm having is figuring out the code in the module.  Is there something that I can use to help me write the code to create my own DNN module.  I really need to create several that just pushes and pulls data from the database.  Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Jordon

have you had a look at the module development tutorials by Michael Washington, available at dotnetnuke.adefwebserver.com.

Besides there is the option to install the starter kit and use the templates provided.

I've been through that site and several others.  The problem is, every site and video that I've seen to build a module, gives you the code that you need to do it.  I can copy and paste real well and can build those modules.  The problem I'm having, I don't know the code well enough for when I go to build my own module that I can write the code for my module, without it being already given to me in a tutorial somewhere.  So, I'm really looking for something that will help me in the process of building the code.  I've been through VB programming classes and I understand the code, I just don't know enough about it to write the code.

Thanks,

Jordon

hey Jordon,

I myself also try to modify the existing module like this. However, that wasn't successfull. Michael's tutorial above is superb. The best tutorial so far. Check it out. Then I finally decided to create the new module from scratch (well, sort of), here is my new thread.

Good luck :)

The book "Professional DotNetNuke 4" by Shaun Walker and company provides a very nice overview of the architectural elements of DotNetNuke and it's relationship with Modules, Skins, Containers, etc.  You might want to pick up a copy and give it a read.
