I recently switched my hosting to godaddy and had them install DNN to build my site. My domain name is www.miscaonline.net The only way I can use teh DNN site is to use www.miscaonline.net/dotnetnuke

How do I set up my address so I can eliminate the "/dotnetnuke" ?

Hi Misca,

Unfortunately GoDaddy has a reputation for being one of the worst places to host a DotNetNuke website.  They installed it in a directory named "DotNetNuke".  You will have to contact their technical support (good luck!) to have them move it.

I'm new to the forums, so tell me if I should do this a different way.

I also have purchased an account from GoDaddy - I didn't know that they weren't a good DNN host - Grrrrr

I am in the process of 'restoring' my DNN website to GoDaddy.  I backed up (ZIP) the files and the MSSQL database from my previous host.

GoDaddy tech support doesn't seem to know much about how to do this.  Can anyone help me?  Are there articles that describe what has to be done?

Thanks

I'm inclined to agree that GoDaddy is not a good DNN host. I wanted to buy the reseller plan and use just for DNN sites for my clients. HOWEVER, according to their tech support, you cannot install DNN into the root directory of the site (even manually). You do get to choose the subdirectory name (I would recommend something other than DotNetNuke) but that doesn't help much. I don't like being forced to use a redirect when I shouldn't have to because it can screw up the Search Optimization.

Funny, I use the $6.99 Godaddy hosting and I have installed DNN in the root direcorty and then I created six different portals all with with different domain names (two for my businesses, two for cub scout packs and two for marketing groups).  I have had no problems and Godday has even called me just to see if everyting is working to my satisfaction.  No, I did not have Godaddy install DNN, I did that myself.  I guess I don't know what all the fuss is about.  I have been running this way for about six months now.
