Has consideration been given to enhancing the Repository module to support Open Access Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH)? Many repositories and digital libraries provide a public query mechanism on a known set of metadata to allow other sites to find out the content of their repository, index it locally and link to it. The advantages from a point of view of web visibility are obvious. It would also open the door to DNN being used by repository projects in universities, libraries and other public information managers.

See http://www.openarchives.org/ for information on the OAI.
