Hello Repository enthusiasts:

I have a working and reasonably stable DNN portal running DNN 4.41. I have not upgraded because I have seen too many posts describing applications that were broken by upgrading.

Recently installed repository module (03.01.10) and tried some test uploads and downloads of files of different sizes and types

including a .pdf file of around 2 meg. It seems to upload the file, and when I look around the site using .ftp there is a file in there of the correct size and type. However, downloading does not work at all. It seems to download, but it zips down in half a second and all I get is a tiny corrupted .pdf file. It seems to think it is a tiny HTML file.

My question: Since I am sure others have encountered this problem, am I just wasting my time trying to fix this using

DNN 4.41 and Repository (03.01.10)? Is there web.config setting? Perhaps the "attributes: feature?

Thanks in advance, Richard

no, you are not wasting your time...

it's a known issue with compression and binary files. You can either disable compression on your site in the host settings, or you need to modify your compression config file so that pdf's and .zips are not compressed. You should be able to find the details elsewhere in this forum

Steve:

Thnaks for your reply, I really do appreciate it. I did turn compression off in the host settings, and there was a change.

Now instead of a tiny corrupted file, I get a file of the correct size and type, except it is still corrupted and unusable.

Is there anything else to try?

Thanks in advance,

Richard
