I experienced the issue again while adding a new mime type in the webserver. I removed the application and created again in IIS and that seems to solve the issue....

sorry to chime in a this post. I have similar issues with the same version . I am able to access the page only locally, but from the internet this error comes up "Server Error in '/' Application", I removed the custom error <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm" />

to this

'<!-- permits errors to be displayed for remote clients -->
    <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" />"

and I get this

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="Off"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>

I am able to locally access my site.  Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.
