Hi all, wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. I need to secure part of the file system on a DNN install so all the contents of Portals/2/ are secure from people downloading the files contained within it or its sub-directories via HTTP. The content is private and should only be accessed by logging into the site. The site uses Speerio file manage pro which is fine (although the speerio site seems to be no longer??) but people can still access the files directly which is not good. If I use the standard file manager to secure the folders does it add .resource to the end of all the files? If so would'nt this mess up speerio file manager.

Anywho I just need to prevent HTTP browsing with the portal root :)

Thanks heaps.

perhaps you should put this question to the people of Speerio

Yeah, I'd ask Speerio but their site is gone and the product has been removed from snowcovered as well. I think what I'm asking is if anyone knows an effective way of securing a folder on a server in general like .htaccess so the files are protected from direct download when not logged into the DNN portal.

Do you think that if I asked the hosting company to set the permissions on the folder so there is no read permission this would prevent filemanager from accessing the files contained in it? Just a thought...
