Hello,

I built my DNN portal under a temporary/alternative URL provided by my host provider.  (I did so, so I could build the DNN site while leaving the old site running until I was ready to switch the DNS over to the new site)  It is long and ugly with multiple prefixes.  I have added the production site's domain as an Alias to this site, using the Host account and Admin->Site section.  However, when you try to reach this site using the real domain URL, it does locate the site, but swaps the URL with the temporary host URL.  Any idea what might be causing this?  I observed that I don't have the ability to edit or delete the temporary host URL 'alias' from the Site's Alias settings.  Are we not able to remove the URL used to originally created/test the DNN portal for some reason?

I am trying to figure out if the root cause is within DNN settings or the host provider's setup.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Make sure to add the new address as "portal Alias" before calling from the new address: login as superuser ("host") with your old address, go to portals in host menu, select your portal, scroll down settings page to the far end and add new url as additional portal alias. save and try with new address.

Thank you.  As I mentioned, I have done this.  Focusing on your statement about doing this 'before' I call the site with the new address.  Do you suspect that I have some kind of caching client-side of the old URL?

What else can I check?  Does it make sense to you that I would not be able to delete the old/original Alias used to set up this site?  If there is a 'primary URL' concept in DNN, is there a way to switch this out with the new/final URL?

thanks
