Hi I'm working on a DNN module.

1) So far whenever I wanted to Add data to the database I would use the formview and its magical "Insert" button and the databound fields. To see data I would use Gridview. But now I want to update some fields based on user input. I dont want to use Edit on gridview it has to be from a form. How do i do this? Do i need to do it all by hand? As in connect to the database, execute a string query, or can i do it with formview or some other tool?

Basically when the user "buys" a pruduct (Product table) from the database, the amount in of items he has bought (Buyer table) increments. I just wanted to point out I am using 2 different tables.

2) Also i have a gridview, but based on a choice i want it to show different values. I was thinking of just having 3 different gridviews and when the user click on his choice one appears and the other 2 disappear. But thats stupid (right?). Can i somehow change the select query of the gridview with my code?

Thanks

Paul

1) I will normally have a grid with a linkbutton that is set as a select command type and then pass the primary key it as the commandArgument tc.  You could also look at using something like this: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/webforms/EditGridviewCells.aspx

2) You can do it that way.

Are you a developer or are you a non-techee trying to figure out what the best approach is?  If this is the case, contact me through our contact us form and I will see what I can offer in assistance etc: http://www.brisingergroup.com/Contactform/tabid/61/Default.aspx
