Where are the instructions for how to use the upgrade package? I downloaded the upgrade package and it consists of a zip file with a bunch of files but no instructions on what to do with it.

I downloaded the 'documentation' zip and no instructions there either.

Am I blind? It would seem logical there would be a 'readme' or similar in the upgrade package itself, or a link to the setup instructions next to the upgrade download.

Could someone point me to where the instructions for the upgrade package are located?

Thanks

if you are currently running DNN 4.6.2 or later, simply unzip files and enter your site address in your browser to start installation.

If you are running a previous version, please read here.

Sebastian,

Like my colleague, I am struggling with the same issue. When you say "simply unzip" the upgrade package, I have no idea from where you mean. Do I upload it from Host > File manager in my parent portal whiile logged in and then recycle the URL to the portal root?  I have no idea where I am supposed to be when I "unzip" it. I have successfully added 3rd party modules to my 4.8.4 parent portal, and a range of other Host tasks.

I am very very pleased with this outstanding content management product, and most things I have found answers for. This question has taken me an hour just to find this forum thread.

I will be most pleased for any answer you may offer to clarify this.  Danke Schoen.

like you did install the first time, the files need to be placed directly on the server, overwriting the existing dotnetnuke files. This requires file access, either using RemoteDesktop, FTP or WebDAV. When unzipping make sure to retain the hierarchic file structure.
