I use aweber.com because I just havent seen anything in DNN that can correctly handle large amounts of emails. If its not done correctly, your domain can end up on spam blacklists, and your delivery rate will suck.  I and my clients dont send any spam, so we really dont want this to happen :)

But aweber and others (icontact etc) are completely separate from DNN, theres no integration at all ... so there is a bit more work involved.

I have tried many of the previously quoted modules (albeit earlier versions) and did not find the kind of features you would expect to see in an "industrial" strength module.
I found Advanced Email Manager from DNN Modules. It has all the features and the work flow I wanted.
Its not too difficult for admins to use, it allows double optins and proper management of lists.

I use its 3 different versions of 3 different sites - the largest does runs of about 2500.  No real problems.

I think that this module is well worth a good look.  The small amount of support I needed ( a silly question) was answered quickly.

The Advanced Email Manager sounds impressive as do most of the modules from Richard Cox but I would highly suggest you stay away from it.  His support is non-existent and his modules haven't faired that well through the various new DNN versions.  For example, his Advanced Email Manager Enterprise version (which I own) doesn't work with his Scheduling Provider or another provider.  I put in a trouble ticket to get support and never got a response back.  That's a common story.  Richard is a nice guy that used to make great modules and provide great support but he got swamped and his stuff is not a good investment in my opinion.

I'm also very interested in a good Email/Newsletter solution but his module isn't it for me.  Still waiting.

If you find a good DNN module solution please let me know.  My users have been registering on my site into various roles which I'd love to leverage with a newsletter to them but I haven't found a module that will email thousands of users while complying with email limitations from my host...and make me feel confident all the users got the email.

I've tried in the past and found some got emails and some didn't.  I don't want to send another batch because then I end up duplicating emails to those that did get in....a big headache that ends with SPAM charges.

If you find a good solution do share!

Hi Ryno

Its funny how peoples experiences can be so different as my support requests did get answers.
While this is probably not the place to get into this I would say that I have used only versions 2.6 and 2.7 (Enterprise and suite) on 4.8* sites and not had any problems with his or the dnn schedule provider.  I believe there were significant changes from 2.6 onwards that included new http handlers.

I can say that all the impressive looking features actually work. Maybe its worth another look?

IMO: This is the only dnn module that has all the features I needed such as the ability to import from a range of list list providers that include roles.

Its interesting that many simply do this with "normal" asp.net code and this is where I was at before finding Richards module.
My problem with other modules was often in the admin side of things - many seemed incomplete and Richards did not.

I do sympathise if you had a bad experience. Sometime I fire off a difficult question at a developer and get no answer - its very frustrating.
