There is an obscure problem that occurs with parent portal creation.

One can create portals.. and then all of a sudden one can not. DNN spits the error below. But the error message seems unrelated to the cause because abiding by it achieves nothing.

An Error Was Encountered During The Creation Of Your Portal. This May Have Been Caused By Specifying An Incorrect Password For An Existing User Account. Please Verify Your Details Before You Try Again.

These are links to some but by no means all posts on the issue.. none have resulted in a definite fix. I'm posting it here because I have no other option on hand. I'm hoping that someone from the core can comment on it.

I have laboriously and through trial and elimination traced the problem to a specific module: DNNControl by DNN Designer.

I will post notice of any fixes to this thread in the old forums: http://forums.asp.net/1231027/ShowPost.aspx#1231027

In the meantime.. do not install that module as disabling it does not restore the lost functionality.
