How do I delete orders from the Orders list in the Store Admin.

Also, can the order list be exported in some way?

Thanks,

Marney

I'd like to know these too. For now, I've been marking orders cancelled to "Delete" them, but there are test orders I would like to completely remove.

You are unable to delete an order through the admin.  you would have to do this directly in the database.  This is because deleting orders like deleting products (rather than archiving) invalidates reporting and auditing of the store.

Examples

Product Delete

If you delete a product and then a user comes in and want to view their order history, now the history may show a sale, but there would be no product information because it was deleted.

Order History

Again when a customer wants to view history it is not there.  Also an employee could use this to cook the books.  Also if you use a inventory system, now it will be out of sync.

It would be conceivable to add the option to Cancel an order, but again for reporting this should not be deleted, just canceled (as a status).

I hope this helps you understand why we have done this.

Thanks Robert for the explination, this makes perfect sence, and I agree with the logic.

I just want to be able to delete the test transactions I have completed so i can supply my client with a fresh Order list once we have the Store live.

How do I go about deleting these from the database?

Thanks,

Marney

To delete products open SQL Server Management Studio, go to your database, open the Store_Products table and delete the records.

To delete orders open SQL Server Management Studio, go to your database, open the Store_OrderDetails table and delete the record(s) then open the Store_Orders table and delete the record(s).
