Hi, I need my site in Spanish as well as English.

What is the best way to do this. Should I duplicate the entire site and do it as a seperate site like spanish.mysite.com and just link them. In which case, How do I duplicate an entire portal as a starting point ?

Is there another easier way that anyone else has done ?

Ideally I would like certain sections to be duplicated. For example photo galleries. I don't want to have to upload all the galleries twice, so how would I keep this on both sites, with only 1 admin area ? thanks

For content localization, take a look at the Magic modules from www.portalfabrik.net.  The Magic Content module is free.

for translation of page names (and menu), you need a page localization module, such like EALO from Effority (download from DNN forge, see icon above) DSLocalizator from dnn.tiendaboliviana.com or PageLocalization from www.apollo-software.nl

I get that. That's not my question. I really need to understand the best practice when doing a multi-language site.

ie. Do I create a Child Portal and duplicate everything in Spanish. In which case, is it possible to access the same photos and some of the same modules from the Parent site. eg. I don't want to duplicate the work of uploading photos to a gallery or adding events or boats for sale. It's fine if those are in English but I want some of the same content on both sites.

If that's not possible. Then do I do it all under 1 site. In which case how do I create new pages that show up in the menu but only for that skin. For example. I would have 2 skins. 1 english and 1 spanish. On the English skin the menu would be to the english pages and Spanish to spanish. Is it possible to differenciate the menus ? If I check "Add to Menu" when creating a new page, it will add to both.... can I make it only add to a specified menu ?

thanks

hello

I also need help in this area.  i have a 6 language site.  I want to use moduales like onyaktech oseta and others.  the only data i need to share is my aspstorefront.  the dnn side can reside on multiple portals, however i do not understand how to switch the entire site language using the language flags.  Can someone please help guide me.

I have magic content and pagelocalization, however to use the wonderful dnn moduales that are developed, language becomes my stumbling block.  There must be a logical way all you experts are using.

thanks
