I got the same error just wonder if you find a fix for this?

  • Are you able to install any other modules?
  • Is this a new install?
  • Can you try installing the Survey module on another DotNetNuke install (perhaps a development version).

I'm getting this same error on my production website. Except, i'm not trying to upload the same module. It happens on any and all modules i try installing from PA.

Modules install fine on other portals.

This can happen if the web.config and/or the desktopModules directory is read only or the NETWORK SERVICE account does not have write access.

A quick update. We are still researching the issue but this appears to be a problem with NETWORK SERVICES account not having permission to write to the web.config. When the Survey module is upoaded a key needs to be inserted into the web.config. If this can't be done you get this error.

For example, if you can't instal the Survey module you also cannot install this module:

IPCheck

You should get the same error.

to resolve this, contact yoru hoster and request that the NETWORK SERVICES account have read and write permission to the web.config file of your DotNetNuke site.
