I want to import userbase from Active Directory - can do so with DNNMasters MMS Pro module. But after having done so I want these to be membership records that will authenticate against AD and not be standard DNN logins.

I know that the provider creates a user account automatically upon first visit to the portal. However, I have a need to be able to assign a task in a work flow to a person who has possibly not yet visited the portal. I need a user account there for that assignment. When the person gets notified about the task and comes to the portal, I want her/him to log on via AD authentication and have that task assigned to that AD-authenticated user.

Can you suggest how I can create user accounts which authenticate against AD when they are not created in the normal way by the AD authentication provider itself? Or something I could do to change these accounts to authenticate against AD after the import?

Thanks!

Without testing DNNMasters module to see how the account is imported I can't say for sure whether it'll work the way you'd like it to or not. Does any of the documentation mention what format the account is in once it's been imported? When the account is created using the provider it's generally in the format of "Domain\Username". If DNNMasters' module creates the accounts that way then I don't see a reason why you couldn't import them first and still ahve the users authenticate against the AD.
