I've been all over the Events forum and see no other posts asking about a particular 04.00.01 "enhancement" that appears to be missing.

The forum posting announcing release of Events 04.00.01 listed five new "features" and nine "enhancements".  The very first "enhancement" listed is:

  Enhancements

  • EVT-7213 Enroll will take anonymous users to login/register and back

This is a feature my organization has sorely missed and I was thrilled to see it added.  Unfortunately, the "Enroll for this Event?" link on the event details page only appears for authenticated (logged in) users -- unauthenticated users still see just a blank space as in previous versions of Events.  I'm testing Events 04.00.02 on DNN version 04.08.02.  For my test, the event module is the only module on the page.  The only third-party module I've added to the test DNN instance is XMOD.

The description for EVT-7213 seems pretty clear (to me) that the enhancement intends to provide an "enroll" link to unauthenticated users.  Is this the case?  If not, what does EVT-7213 do?

Hi,

I think what happened with 7213 is that it made the My Enrollments button available for unauthenticated users. I apologise for the confusion....

Issue EVT-6996 is coded such that the enroll link on the detail page is always is always visible, except that it displays 'Login to enroll for this event' when the user is unauthenticated, and when clicked on requests the user to Login. This change will come with version 4.1.0.

Note that with neither of these changes has there been an intent to provide enrollment for unauthenticated users. Support is currently provided for authenticated users only.

Cheers
Roger

Hi Roger,

I'm really needeing this feature of having a redirection link to login/registration page in the event detail page if the user is not loged in, and then be taken back to the event.

Can you tell me when are you releasing this feature? Or please guive me guidelines on how to do this (I can program in aspx and ascx, but never tried programming dotnetnuke modules nor modifying them) ?

If I succeed I'd be glad to forward you the code, just in case you might find it useful.

Thansk in advance for your help!

Hi Adrián,

I can't give a date as to when this will be released. There is still a fair amount of work to do on the module, and as always this is voluntary work, and we all have real lives to lead.

If you get yourself set-up to edit the module, I can give you the relevant code, no problem. I'm just not in a position right now (work commitements) to teach DNN programming.

Cheers
Roger

Hey Roger!

First off, thanks for your quick response!!!

I guess I can learn the basics on DNN programming by myself (there's plenty of material out there in the cyberspace :-) ), so if you can give me the relevant code -as you said- and point me in the right direction (you know, a couple of tips regarding this change, not general DNN programming, 'cause you're the ones that know the Events module best, right? :-) ) I think I can manage to get it done.

A couple of good links on DNN programming would be more than welcomed, too, if it's not too much to ask.

And I said I can share the results with you. That way I'll stop being a hideous leach to become a contributor with my tiny grain of sand :-)

Looking forward to hearing from you!!!

Cheers,

            Adrián

PS: Please forgive spelling, sintax and grammar erorrs... as you can see, I'm not a native English speaker :-)
