Michael, be aware, that some modules use username instead of userid for identification, you might check out the impact on all modules used in your portal before performing mass changes.

A mass update would be performed immediately after importing the userbase, and before user logged on.

In the second situation, where I want to allow the user to update username, the fact that some modules use username instead of userid is of more importance. This would mean that the opportunity to change the username should be limited to the first time the user logs on, and before other activity on the portal.

It just makes it all a little funner to implement ...
