Hi,

I created a new parent portal as host in my DNN and see that now I have Portals/0/ and Portals/1/.  I got a DNS entry directed to my box with the new hostname.  In IIS Admin, I created a new website, pointed its home directory to the same DNN root (C:\dotnuke), added a host header (=FQDN) and used the same FQDN as site alias.

Yet, when I navigate to the site -- using the new hostname -- it displays my existing portal (rewrites the URL too), not an empty new one!

Is this expected behavior?  (I was thinking that multiple portals on the same installation was a feature of DNN...)

Of course, I still think so.  So do you know what I've done wrong?

Thanks!

Chris

Yes, you should be able to host multiple sites under one DNN install.  But there is one thing that you are doing wrong.  After you create a new parent portal you hit the same site as you did with the existing portal.  You DO NOT need to create another web site in IIS that points to the same root.  Basically you should have 1 site setup in IIS that points to the DNN application.   Then either you setup no host header in IIS for the site (for hosted site that has unique IP) or add mutliple host headers for each parent site under the one DNN site (for local site where all the site us 127.0.0.1).  Then when you hit the DNN site it will bring up the correct site based on the URL that was used to hit the site.

-- What version of DNN are you using?

-- What are the URL's of the 2 sites you setup in DNN?

-- What are the 2 entries in the aliases table for the sites?

-- How are you setting up the URL's so they can be used to access the sites? Do you have you own DNS server or are you using the hosts file?
