Can anybody tell me which timeout I am missing. I send a sproc off to do a 2-minute job and it always comes back as  timed out error. I have set the following timeouts:

1. Connection string Timeout = 15 minutes

2. ScriptManager.GetCurrent(Me.Page)mobjScriptManager.AsyncPostBackTimeout = 20000

3. Server.ScriptTimeout = 3000000

4. Page.Session.Timeout() = 120000

For such a small operation I don't want to go to a batch method, after all, a one - two minute operation shouldn't require that amount of work. I'd be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction.

AFAIR the DAL has a hardcoded timeout of 30 seconds, so you can't use it for longer operations. To work around this create your own database connection and datareader/dataset rather than using the DAL

Cathal is 100% correct.

The Microsoft Data Application Block (Used for the DNN DAL) has a hard set, non-changeable 30 second timeout).  I have a re-compiled version of the block with a 60 second timeout, but that isn't enouch to help you.

You will need to break away from the standard DAL process and create your own connection which can be customized.
