Hello DNN'ers!

I have used both Catalook and AliCommerece community edition in the past, both have thier benifits and drawbacks.  With some customization Catalook will do what I need, but I"m hoping something out of the box already exists.

My problem with Catalook, is the interface design, is just too clunky and hard to understand for most users...I'd like a module with all the same featuers, but better interfaces basically.

I'm hoping for some recommendations, and maybe some discussion on the pro's and cons of differnet modules.  My needs are specific for this next project.

Needs:

  • Ability for certain security roles to be able to add and manage thier own products, similar to snowcovered, but NOT digital products.  Obviously a digital download feature would be great, but not required for this project.
  • Vendor profiles, and products.
  • Reviews
  • Payment Processor integration.  Paypal Pro and Authorize.net would be sufficient
  • Shipping calculations
  • Tax Calculation
  • order managemnt
  • customer management
  • Fixed prices and Auction prices would be nice.

What do you use and why do you like it?

what DID you use, and why did you hate it?

Thanks alot!

Josh

Josh,

I'm sure that he will pop in here sometime, but I recommend talking with Tom Kraak at Seablick Consulting as he has a good amount of experience with the e-Commerce solutions.

Josh, I've been looking for the same thing for a few weeks now, and honestly I can't find anything that I can settle with.
Catalook does everything we need, but the interface is strange. ASP.NET Storefront doesn't really do much better when it comes to the backoffice interface.

The best thing I've found so far is Magento (http://www.magentocommerce.com/) - it has a very nice interface out of the box for both customers and store managers, but Magento is not for DNN - it's not even .net, it's a PHP project.

I would gladly pay double or triple the current Catalook price for a good looking and usable backoffice interface.

Well....Someone at some time recommended to me to contact the author for this, in another forum when I was attempting to write my own.

Anyhow...whooot...I contacted the author and she's gunna make a product wizard(catalook).

Never hurts to ask ehh.

I did have to pay a small fee, but when I say small, relative to the work that is being done it's virutally nothing....gotta love this community! :->
