OK, I have a bizarre issue that I'm hoping someone will have some insight on.

I have a DNN 4.84 web site that allows users to upload files to the server via a Telerik RadUpload control running on a Telerik RadWindow popup (Telerik Rad Controls for ASP.NET Ajax).

This process works just fine and the users can upload both .doc and .mp3 files using this approach.

The problem arises when I turn on Friendly URLs on the web site (via Host Settings > Use Friendly Urls).

When I do so, users can still upload .doc files, but they can no longer upload .mp3 files. The RadUploadContext.Current.UploadedFiles.Count == 0 when trying to upload a file with the .mp3 extension.

I'm at a loss as to why this is occurring and how I can get the upload process to work for all files when Friendly URLs is turned on.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Jason

Hi Jason,

As you probably realize, because you're using components from two different ecosystems (DNN and Telerik), the amount of help you'll get from each community will likely be limited (We'll say contact Telerik, and Telerik will blame DNN).

So since no one has yet responded, I thought I'd throw in a few debugging suggestions that might get you started.  I don't have any direct experience with RadUpload or RadWindow (though I have reasonable experience with the integration of their editor and menu into DNN).

If I were in your shoes, I would first fire up a web debugging proxy (such as Fiddler) and see what exactly is going on.  With some luck this information will reveal the source of the problem.

If that does not work, then you might consider deploying some custom logging code inside the FriendlyUrl provider.  Doing so would allow you to better pinpoint exactly where in that process things are going awry.

Hope this gets you started!

Brandon

Thanks Brandon,

I had a feeling that would be the case....just hoping this might ring a bell with someone.

I found the fix, though:

In web.config, the entry for the Friendly Url http handler had to be at the top of the list of handlers. This did the trick.

Thanks, and I hope this proves useful to others.

Jason
