Hi,

I have a parent portal that has a number of child sites, and users are automatticly logged in using the build in AD auth.  My problem is that when a user visits site A, they are added as a user automatticly, however they they visit site B after they are not added as a user.  This means that when I want to add a user as an admin of site A and B, I am only able to add them to site A.  When I try to add them to site B I get a message saying the username already exists, however the users is in site A not B.  I am running the latest version of DNN & AD 1.0.4.

Any help / thoughts on how to add users as admins on multiple sites would be great.  Thanks

When the user visits Site B are there any errors in the DNN Event Viewer? Are they still shown as being logged into Site B but their account isn't added (this is similar to what used to happen before the bug was fixed) or are they not logged in at all? When you add them as an admin (or attempt to manually) you have to have their user credentials (username/password/email/etc) matching exactly to what is in Site A.

Now my last goofy question is..... you did setup the AD Provider on Site B right? I only ask because I've added child portals and forgotten to.

Hi Mike,

Thanks AD was not set to get all the domains. The user is now showing in both sites once they have visited them.  My problem now is that I am not able to add a user manually to a site as an admin, unless they have visited the site first.  This is becuase it says the username already exists.  I believe this is because as you said the username & password must be the same, however when I add a user I am using there windows AD username (i.e. domain/username) and selecting use a random password as I do not know the users password.  The user is then added as an admin, and when they visit the site there password is pulled from AD.

Do you know of anyway around this so I am able to add the user as an admin before they visit site B, but after viewing site A?

Thanks

The only way I can think of would be to do it manually in the database and add a record to the UserPortals table.
