Hi,

I understand it is no possible to backup & restore seperate child site in DNN, so I have been playing around with the import / export portal template feature.  This seems to work ok for me so far as I can create an export portal template of the child sites, and if needed load the relevent template over the correct child site to restore its content to a previous time.

Does anyone know of a reason why this should not be done, as from my test it acts the same as a site backup / restore in SharePoint or any other multisite web apps.

Thanks

please be aware, that

  1. not all modules support iPortable to get included in the export
  2. some portal/page/module settings might not get restored properly
  3. references to local images, files and pages might get broken

Thanks, are you also aware of any free or paid for scripts or modules that are able to automate the creation of these templates?
