Hi All,

I do not know if this is the correct forum, but i have a licensing question. I developed a module tha i might want to sell or share. Part of itis compiled in a dll and part (the ascx files AND their codebehind files) is delivered in source. I wrote all of these files but of course borrowed from others for certain techniques (stuff like how to use the rolecontroller class and how to use loadcontroll). Since I used techniques that also originated in the starter kit (the dataprovider, sqldataprovider and such) I was wondering if the copyright in each file of mine should remain in Place or that i could replace it with my own copyright. I do not use any components (other than the DNN core) except for one (itextsharp).

Second question is about the packaging. Since i use itextsharp and use it unmodified I think (i never quite understood GPL and the lesser version)  that I should be allowed to package that dll with my solution as long as i reference their site and conditions in mine). Is this correct?

I really like the coding part better than the administrative part :)

I am not a lawyer, and i think you will not find many around here ;)

as for your DNN license question: probably the safe path would be to include something like this in your source files: "some parts are copyright DotNetNuke Corporation"

according to my understanding you should be  allowed to include a LGPL licensed component in your commercial module, but i am not sure (i never use GLP licensed material.

Best thing to do is to check with a lawyer that is specialized in OpenSource licenses.....
