Hi tt,

DotNetNuke relies on the ASP.NET membership system for all user-related functionality.  As crazy as it might seem, this subsystem does NOT support the changing of usernames after creation.  The initial reasons were due to the difficulty in coordinating such changes across disparate servers, and the issue persists due to backward-compatibility concerns.

You can read more about the status of the issue here.  It is indeed a most glaring oversight.

If you are running using the SqlMembershipProvider AND your membership store is stored on one server, you can safely change usernames via SQL.  I suggest Google for a couple approaches.

Hope this helps!

Brandon
