I'm getting the same thing after 3 times trying to delete EVERYTHING and start over.  I have used this same build for a successful build before on the same server?  There has to be something missing.  It is always crashing when trying to create MY WEBSITE.

What's up with this?  This is what frustrates me most about DNN.  It's supposed to make your life easier and it seems like it just makes everything more challenging.  I'm wondering if it's really worth the pain.

It caused by timeout as mentioned before.

Make sure SQL server connection and file copy speed is fast enough, it happens in very old machine. Make sure no big third party module(such as catalook moduel)  being installed meanwhile DNN website install. Big third party module installaion will casue timeout problem.

Anyway, if you can not install it, just migrate it. Install DNN in one computer then migrate to server to avoid installation process.

Clear your site log/event log first and try again.

What I tend to do is do the upgrade locally. I do a file compare and get rid of any non native DLL's etc. Also do something similar with web.config (comparing text etc). When I log in I get lots of error messages for missing modules/skins etc, so I reinstall these one by one with the latest versions. Then I clear the event viewer/site log again and inspect for errors. Sure it's not the simplest way to do it, I would not recommend doing it this way for most people, but it is great for a spring clear of your installation. You have to be very careful with this process though and know what the error messages point to.
