I am needing to know if there is an easy way to merge two DNN sites.  One was a previous version of DNN and has recently been upgraded to match the version of the target site we are wanting to merge with.  Here's the catch:

Our site has portals 1-8 already, and we are needing to add the portals on as a higher numbered portal.  Are there any guidlines for merging two DNN databases?  I can't merge the databases straight up without violating any constraints.

 Hey Bryan,

Don't do it!!!

In spite of the benefits you may hear about using one DotNetNuke install for multiple websites, it is really not a good idea at all.  Although it may work OK in a small site, as things grow and scale it becomes a lot less managable.

As advised by Tony., I would recommed to install individual portal as one application. The drawbacks of installing multiple portals in one application if the application encounter an error or there was a glitch error on database will effect the whole portals.

Actually, this is one of those where I have no say.  One site already has roughly 40-60 portals already there (5-10 MB a piece with the exception of 2 or 3 large sites).  I am actually just needing to take and tack on 8 or so more portals from another DNN install.  My goal is to avoid having to copy and paste 40+ pages(I don't want my laziness to turn into unsurpassable hard work though).  I'm kinda looking for a backend solution as opposed to front end.

I do not see any problem with multiple sites on one install, separating them is easy enough when necessary, but I do not think I would want to try merging them.  The time involved in converting all of the tables so they have the proper portal ids, module ids, user id, and other, prior to a merge would out weigh the benefits of putting them together in my opinion.
