I have a DNN 4.5.3 site running fine (SiteA).  I need to make a copy of it to SiteB, same server, same db server, in order to do a pre-prod test upgrade to 4.8.4.

I copied SiteA to a new SiteB.  Permissions and IIS settings are identical on both sites.

I backed up SiteA.db, created a new SiteB.db and restored the SiteA.db to SiteB.

I modified SiteB's web.config to point to and authenticate to SiteB.db.  SiteA's portal alias is SiteA and SiteA.domain.com.  SiteB's portal alias is SiteB and SiteB.domain.com.

SiteB launches OK and the main page comes up complete but ANY link or menu option on the page generates a blank page with "The system cannot find the path specified".

What else am I forgetting here?

Has anyone run into this issue? Can you provide some suggestions as to where the failure may be occurring?

Sorry for shooting into the dark, but did you try an IIS reset?

Actually, I hadn't... and I was thinking OMG... can it just be that?   I just restarted it and no luck... still "The system cannot find the path specified".

I've also removed everything, created a new site from scratch, scopy'd the entire directory structure permissions and all, re-backed-up the SiteB database and restored to SiteA, etc.  Still, the main page loads but every other page throws the 'cannot find' error.

I don't think its permission or metabase related, so I suspect some kind of dynamic page/pathing issue from the SQL database but I've been thru all the tables and none seem to have any site related paths specified other than portalalias and hostsettings. I ensured that the portalalias table for the new site only points to the new site, DNS is correct and I updated the hostsettings table to ensure SiteB.domain.com is the proper site URL.  Still, it errors out.  Why the main page would load and any other pages would not indicates a path issue with the tabIDs but I can't find the relationship.

Thanks for trying to help tho.  Other ideas? Anyone?

Making a dupe copy of a DNN site shouldn't be this difficult, especially if doing it all on the same IIS server and SQL db with unique names...  I know that detaching and moving the db to another db server and moving the site to another web server works fine.  Why in the heck I can't seem to clone one is a bit frustrating.

Sorry to bump but I'm at a stopping point with this one and I'm sure someone has the answer.   Are there some URL specific settings for a site that get stored in the DB that I must change other than in the portalalias and hostsettings tables that might be causing the path or file not found issue?

Please... any suggestions?
