John, I've been confused by this as well in the past, perhaps it would be better to update your site to state "optimized" rather than "modified" or provide a FAQ that explains this.

Thanks,

Cathal

 Cathal,

I think you are exactly right, we actually realized a few months back that some of the messaging was confusing.  If you have noticed, our web site has gone through some major changes, and much of that was changed.  Unfortunately there are still some places on the site that could use some more clarity in terms of messaging.  Those will definitely be addressed in upcoming updates to the website.

Thanks Tony.  I was in fact using a SQL 2000 database that was migrated over to 2005.  I was given a script (the compatibility mode changing script I think you're talking about) to run or have you guys run on my site that was supposed to help with the migration of the old ActiveForums to the new ActiveForums but it wasn't working.  Will led me to believe my issue couldn't be fixed along with the handful of others in my situation.

So can you clarify if users like myself are able to migrate our older ActiveForums that used SQL 2000 over to SQL 2005 and the newest ActiveForums on PowerDNN or does the "optimization" you guys do to DNN websites make it so we can't use some third party modules?

Thanks for the clarification and information by all.

Rick,

I never said that Active Forums runs on all hosts except PowerDNN.  We have not taken away your support options and we never said we wouldn't support you.  I also never said your situation could not be fixed.  You were pushing us to update your site immediately.  You even gave us an ultimatum to upgrade your forums or you were going to post your issues publicly.    I told you that we were working on 5 sites that were having different issues and also hosted with PowerDNN.  I suggested that you wait until we have these problems resolved or else you could end up like these other customers with forums completely down.  You then accused us of "changing our story"  and you continued to tell us that our product wasn't stable and you were not going to upgrade.  Then you wanted to access to the 5 other customers so you could talk with them about this issue and try and come up with your own solution.  You also asked for me to tell you exactly what the problem was with PowerDNN and to then fix our software so it wasn't an issue.  I replied and explained that the other customers didn't post on the forums and since their forums were down, they were more concerned about us getting their forums back on-line rather than collaborating with another person that doesn't know the application.  I also explained that had we known the exact issues we were having with PowerDNN we would have  them fixed by now.  I further explained that we were making some adjustments to the application for hosting scenarios that didn't provide enough memory.  You never replied again.  That was over a month ago.

Since then, we have communicated with PowerDNN about the issues and they have been resolved.  Need more proof?  Here is a testimonial from a customer that was the last of those 5.  His issue was resolved a few hours after you told us you were no longer interested in upgrading.

I didn't know the issue had been resolved.  I gues my existing open trouble ticket which was preventing me from posting in your support forum just wasn't updated.  Like you said, that was over a month ago.  Had it been updated I would have known there had a been a fix.  Or had I the ability to post in your support forum then I would have been able to have gotten the update.  Either of those support routes would have been great.

As for thinking PowerDNN was the only host with the issue I must have misunderstood your statements "This really isn't ideal and hasn't been a problem with other hosthing providers" and "know that we have already had over 1,000 customers migrate without problem and 5 that are hosted with PowerDNN are still having issues."

Thanks much for the clarification.  I would recommend that your practice of making it so users can't post in your support forum anytime they have an open CRM support ticket be discontinued as it forces users needing support with your product to find other support channels like this one.
