Couple things.

Its a holiday weekend in the US and UK I believe so answers may not come as fast.

This is a forum for the dnn core forums.  We have not started a general dnn support forum here yet which is where this seems to belong.

That aside, your problem could be many things.  You are saying that you cannot use the dnn install unless you are doing so locally?  What is throwing the error?  Log in as host locally and go to log viewer.  The log viewer will have details about the error.  Post those details back here.

I'm guessing that you have the portal alias setup as http://localhost/dotnetnuke. you should have it setup as http://servername/dotnetnuke or http://www.yourcompanyname.com/dotnetnuke.

You can change this by logging in as host and going to "portals" on the host menu. Select the portal and at the bottom you should be able to add a new HTTP Alias.

please correct me if I am wrong DotNetNuke team.
