I am quite curious to find out what changes may lie ahead in DNN5 and localization.

Is there a list or source for this information?

I'm wondering if localization will now be included for page details (such as menu items), core modules and so on.

At the moment the core DNN is only seriously capable to run in a single locale and it would be great to think DNN is finally moving forward as a serious CMS/Framework work truly international website development.

Hi David,

At OF/EU we had a meeting on this. As Europeans we are very much in the midst of this. We agreed that the first stage of content localization will be localization of page/module names and settings. This is not something that can be done for DNN 5.0 as this has a feature stop right now. So we plan to include this in DNN 5.1.

Hi Peter

Thanks for letting me know.

I understand the feature stop, a good thing as I've heard talk about this release for over a year now and eagerly await.  Also in Europe (Poland) but working in a few locales, it's definitely something people in this part will notice more.

Cheers

David

Hi David,

We're thinking of moving this issue further within the context of the European DNN professionals initiative. Currently I'm playing with the idea of a kind of code-camp with a number of pros to get the whole solution hammered out and ready for 5.1.

Thanks Peter

I've just applied as a member of the group, though I'm not really a programmer or developer... I do try to add wherever possible and think of the flexible and various needs of others.

Cheers

David
