I'm sure there are lots of posts on this sunject, but I never have much luck with the forum search.  Maybe someone can just steer me to the obvious.

Anyway, I certainly don't claim that I understand how Google arbitrates page ranking, but I'm pretty sure having just meta tags upfront followed by thousands of bytes of gibberish doesn't work as well as a page that has the keywords showing up immediately after the <body> tag.  I have several pages that are always in the top ten that use this philospohy, in one form or another.

Is there a way to force some HTML into the top of the body?  Although I have host permissions, I don't have access to the server except through DNN.

You are correct, having your most valuable content in plain html as high up in the page as possible certainly helps. A proper CSS-based skin layout supports this idea today and down the road with DNN5 you'll have other tools to your disposal such as the Relocation widget.
