By the way, the Google Widget is just some JavaScript/HTML, it will work on any page.  It's not really even that useful.

I recently blogged on this:

http://marketingpie.risdall.com/?p=592

Some hosts won't allow a dynamic 404 page.

I know this is a very old thread, but the advice to use your asp.net redirection and IIS custom errors to handle 404 pages has a few shortcomings.

- When you setup a 404 page via asp.net or IIS, it doesn't take into account if you have multiple-portal installations.
- ASP.NET does a 302 redirect to the named page, so you get a 302 and a 200 status, instead of a 404 return.  This can mean invalid Urls get indexed in search engines

I have worked out a solution to this which I blogged about:
http://www.ifinity.com.au/Blog/EntryI...

This includes solutions for the above issues, but is only applicable to IIS7 (which, incidentally, you don't need your host to configure for you)

hi,

I have also done that, and it worked fine.

The problem that i am facing is, when I trace for url header, it will give 302 status instead of 404 error status code.

I need to know how dnn will do this for www.dotnetnuke.com site. Is there any way out we can also do the same.

Thanks in advance

Rajul
