After I configure the DB connection I run the test connection to which it returns clean, on clicking next I get the following error.

"Installing Database - Version 4.4.0...FAILURE null - null"

I have double checked the match in the web.config file for the strings (as seen here)

<add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Data Source=.\SQLE2005;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;Integrated Security=True;User ID=yyyyy;Password=xxxxx;User Instance=True" />

<add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Data Source=.\SQLE2005;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;Integrated Security=True;User ID=yyyyy;Password=xxxxx;User Instance=True" />

I am a bit at a loss, any help would be appreciated.

this looks like a wild mixture of database connection parameters - either use database name with login or dbfilename, either use integrated security or user and password. Please compare with default connection strings in release.config file.

Thank you for the quick reply, I dont know if its just me but isnt that something the installation script should handle. Looks to me like it is adding attributes without removing them when un-selected.

Attempted to re-run with the stock line out of release.config and it updated my DNN to the newest minor version and tells me that no site is currently installed. So I guess I will start all over again.

if you are still on initial install, I strongly suggest to wipe out installation database and reunzip all files to start safely from scratch. make sure, all file system permissions have been granted to the virtual user ("Network Service" or "ASPNET" on WinXP).

I have tried a scratch install twice so far with no change. File permission test passes.
