I recently had to move my SQL server installation to another server.  After a successful installation of MSSQL(05) I did a backup and restore of the DNN DB and went through the MS KB (918992) on transfering logins and passwords from one SQL instance to another server.  I then went into the web.config file and changed the connection and appserver strings to reflect the location of the new DB and took the original database off line.  That said, when I try to access my DNN website now, I get the error:

Error   Cannot open database "DNN" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'DNNUser'.

I then created a new Login and user for the DNN db andtried to access the website, but get the same error.  It looks like the website is looking at the original credentials, instead of the changes.  Is there someplace that I chould be making these changes that I am not aware of??

IF you have a solution and could email it to me, I would be most grateful.

Thanks

John

Did you solve the problem? I have the same problem. I just one DNN DB in a brand new MS SQL 2005 installation.

please note, that you need to create a SQL server user AND grant permission to him for your database. you also need to setup connection modes TCP/IP and Named Pipes
